In 2009, against almost all advice, we decided to tell you who we actually are and not who we thought we should be. Investors, customers, interview candidates, friends, family and colleagues all erupted with positive reactions saying things like “Wow, I love your About Us section” - “It’s such a breath of fresh air” - “I wish I had the guts to do that” – “I really identify with you guys” – “This is a culture I want to be a part of”. We have received an outpouring of support and it continues to be humbling. Much has changed in the past couple of years so please allow us to update you.
We continue to be human beings (albeit a much larger group of) - grandparents, parents, children, aunts, uncles, animal lovers, sports fanatics and connoisseurs of caffeine. We frequently fill the beans, descale, fill the water, empty the grinds and repeat. Some even froth. We take the train and bike to work. We head outdoors and work without power. We continue to stay late, arrive early and probably take less vacation than we should.
We’ve celebrated many new beginnings and persevered through a few goodbyes. We’ve grown substantially and with growth comes change and with change come growth. It’s never easy but we’re in it together. We continue to ride the wave both up and down but our momentum forward is obvious.
Our approach to what we do, or as we like to call it the how, remains entirely the same. We continue to brainstorm; laugh, test, build, listen, write and tease – but recently we’ve formalized our how into 5 distinct core values:
Our core values have become our foundation and we continually mold our physical space to help facilitate our how. We still don’t have private offices or cubicles, just an open, collaborative environment with conference tables and couches.
Vascular disease isn’t going away. Real people continue to fight the progression and complications that result from PAD. We’ve won many battles but the war goes on and we don’t take our responsibility to create change lightly. As our company ages, many of our ideas have become realities yet we still lie awake at night devising plans to do more. We know many are counting on us to do more. We continue to be an ordinary group of individuals trying to achieve the extraordinary. For this opportunity we remain extremely blessed.
