Avinger CEO John B. Simpson, PhD, MD, Will Also Reveal Avinger’s Innovative Ocelot Catheter, which recently received CE Mark to treat patients for Peripheral Artery Disease.
REDWOOD CITY, CA (November X, 2011)—Avinger, Inc., a medical device manufacturer of innovative, multi-functional catheters made for treating patients with Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD), will be an exhibitor at the Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT) Scientific Symposium, sponsored by the Cardiovascular Research Foundation (CRF) on November 7-11, 2011.
In addition to exhibiting at the event, Avinger (Booth #1536) will host a TCT Breakfast Meeting on Friday November 11 at 6:30 AM where they plan to transmit a live case from Germany showing Avinger’s Ocelot crossing a chronic total occlusion.
Ocelot is a groundbreaking new tool for accessing discrete regions of the peripheral vasculature while simultaneously providing OCT visualization for guidance through arteries. Using the Ocelot System as an adjunct to fluoroscopy, for the first time ever, medical professionals will have access to a device that incorporates real time intravascular guidance. Ocelot is currently CE Marked but not available in the United States.
Hosting the case live from Munster, Germany will be Dr. Arne Schwindt and Avinger CEO John B. Simpson, PhD, MD. Pro cyclist Christian Vande Valde will also be a guest speaker at the event in San Francisco.
Christian has partnered with TCT to bring awareness about PAD and innovative solutions that allow for minimally invasive treatment. He recently spent the day at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village, Illinois observing how interventional cardiologist, Dr. John Chamberlin, treated a typical case of PAD.
"Almost all the devices used to treat the patient by Dr. Chamberlin were invented by Dr. Simpson." Christian said. "I'm very proud to be part of Avinger's symposium at TCT 2011 and riding with the physicians attending the event.”
On Saturday, November 11, 2011 Christian will join Avinger and all attendees of the TCT Breakfast Meeting who wish to participate on a bike ride in Woodside, CA to promote PAD awareness through physical activity.
Avinger is excited to be a part of TCT, an event that pays homage to industry leaders who are dedicated to improving the survival and quality of life for people with cardiovascular disease through research and education.
